Craving sweets may be a good thing. According to new research, the total lack of any sugar in your diet may lead to glucose deficiencies, which are essential for brain and central nervous system function.
1. Dark Chocolate – Rich in flavanolsFlavanols are a type of flavonoid that’s found in plants such as the cacao tree which produces chocolate.
Dark chocolate “contains two to three times more flavanol-rich cocoa solids as compared to milk chocolate,” according to research.
Flavanols are related to the production of nitric oxide, which relaxes your blood vessels and improves blood flow. In turn, this also lowers blood pressure. Flavanols are also beneficial in fighting cell damage relating to aging.
Source of important minerals
Dark chocolate is packed full of important minerals, including iron, magnesium, zinc, copper and phosphorus. These minerals are used to support immunity (zinc), can help keep your bones and teeth healthy (phosphorus), and contribute to better sleep quality (magnesium).
Non-dairy
As its name implies, milk chocolate contains some form of milk or milk solids. But dark chocolate is generally considered non-dairy. That means it’s a good option if you have a sensitivity to milk products or try to keep a dairy-free diet.
High in fiber
Compared to other sweet treats, dark chocolate is high in fiber to help in digestion
Protects skin from sun damage
The antioxidants in dark chocolate improve blood flow to your skin and protect it from sun damage ( the effects of UV rays).
Enhances your mood
Dark chocolate has long been associated with feelings of pleasure and enjoyment which originate from polyphenolic compounds.
2. Organic Candy – Natural Ingredients
Organic candy uses natural sweeteners and avoids synthetic additives, making it a healthier option with potential benefits like antioxidants. In contrast, conventional candy often contains high sugar levels and artificial flavors, which can lead to health issues such as obesity and anxiety.
Natural Sweeteners: Organic candy relies on natural sweeteners like pure cane sugar, honey, maple syrup, stevia, and fruit juices. These alternatives offer a more balanced flavor profile while reducing the impact on blood sugar levels.
Organic Flavors: The flavors in organic candy come from natural fruits, spices, and herbs, providing an authentic taste experience. From tangy citrus delights to decadent chocolatey treats, organic candy brings a burst of natural flavor.
Colorful and Natural: Unlike traditional candy, organic counterparts don’t use artificial dyes and food coloring. Natural colorants derived from plant sources, such as beetroot, spirulina, and turmeric, give the candies their distant hue. These vibrant hues add visual appeal and ensure that the candy remains free from harmful synthetic additives.
Allergen-Friendly Options: Organic candies offer alternatives for individuals with specific dietary restrictions or allergies. Many organic candy brands provide gluten-free, dairy-free, and nut-free options, making them accessible to a broader range of consumers.
